Next on my list was Part Two of the Great Garden Debate: the UCLA Botanical Garden.
We had an auspicious beginning when trying to park. I put money in the meter, and this is what came up:
I hoped it wasn't a harbinger of bad things to come. After finding a meter that would take my change, we walked up the path into the garden. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one ... on the right :-)
The gardens are fabulous. It's so easy to get lost in your little world in there. It's so quiet and peaceful. The only
things around are dragonflies:
and squirrels:
This particular squirrel was hilarious. He would stretch himself to reach the nuts farther down the branch and then
bring the nut back to his perch and eat it. He repeated this process about 10 times while we watched, paying
absolutely no mind to the onlookers.
After about 30 minutes of wandering, we came across my favorite place in the gardens ... the waterfall. I could have stayed here all day.
In short, I LOVED these gardens. If they weren't so far away, I would be here all the time.
